Gail M. Kienitz, Ph.D.

Academic Consultant/Writing Specialist

Gail graduated summa cum laude from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire and has a Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame. She was a tenured Professor of English before moving from Chicago to the Philadelphia area. She has developed and taught university courses in British, American, and World Literature as well as Cultural Diversity and Cross-Disciplinary Composition courses. After spending nearly two decades teaching at the college level, she began working as an independent academic tutor and consultant. As part of a dual-career academic couple, she has a wide range of institutional academic experience including state colleges and universities as well as liberal arts colleges and the Ivy League. For the past ten years, she has been assisting students with their college-application essays and working as a freelance editor for scholarly publications. She is currently working on a book to aid students writing their common-app and supplemental essays. As a consultant, Gail greatly enjoys helping students craft essays that showcase their strengths, interests, personalities, and stories.

Gail lives in Media, PA. Her husband is a biology professor at the University of Pennsylvania; her son is midway in his high school career, and her daughter will graduate from college next year. When she isn’t assisting students or professional writers with their work, she is typically reading for sheer enjoyment.
